I am Sally Seaver

Get practical skin wisdom for real life.

I am a scientist. My perspective comes from a lifetime of observation, scientific thinking, personal experience, and continual learning.

As an independent scientist, I naturally look for underlying causes rather than isolated symptoms. I am interested in how systems work together and how the principles of physics, biology, chemistry, and everyday habits influence the skin over time. For example, understanding stress and strain — fundamental ideas in physics — provides a different way to think about how wrinkles develop and how our daily habits may affect them.

My own skin has been my longest-running experiment.

For many years I struggled with acne, eczema, and psoriasis. Those experiences motivated me to keep learning, observing, asking questions, and trying different approaches. Over time, I found ways to overcome these problems, and I have now been free of them for many years.

That journey taught me something important: there is rarely a single solution. Healthy skin is influenced by many interacting factors, including the microorganisms around us, the skin microbiome, hydration, nutrition, stress, sleep, movement, daily care, and the countless small decisions we make every day.

Everyone’s life is different. We each have different constraints of time, energy, health, budget, and environment. My goal is not to help you pursue perfection or sell a miracle product. My goal is to help you better understand your own skin so you can make informed decisions that help you achieve your best skin.
